Hope M. Miller
Artistic Director of millermuller ballet and Heritage School of Classical Ballet
Hope Miller began her training at the age of four. By eleven she was studying Russian ballet with Natalie Krassovska. For 8 years she was a member of Ballet Jeunesse of Dallas and performed in many of the great classical ballets. During this time, she studied flamenco and Russian character dance while working with many of the former stars of the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo. After college, she extended her training to include several years of Japanese modern and other Asian dance styles which have been incorporated into several of her ballets. Her personal repertoire has also included informal training in Irish step dance.
With the Dallas Opera, she performed in 'Ariodante' and 'Un Ballo Masquere' under the direction of Kenneth von Heidecke, and in 'Rigoletto' with Catherine Turocy. She has danced with several local groups including Pieces, under the direction of J. Davis Hobdy, and Richland Dance Spectrum, under the direction of Sally Johnson.
She has taught extensively for over 30 years with many studios throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and in San Antonio, Texas. She began choreographing ballet history programs and performing in dance education shows for elementary schools while in college and has continued to create unique and prize-winning dances for both recitals and competitions. In 2013, she created a full-length original ballet, "The Samurai Maiden", based on a Japanese fairy tale.
Together with longtime friend Mary Muller, she formed a small professional ballet company, millermuller ballet. The company has performed for the Classical Ballet Festival, Diffusion Dance, Allen Dance Festival, Dallas' City Arts Celebration, and Richland College, as well as a United Nations Women's Seminar at UTD. For several years, the school and company have been invited to participate in programs sponsored by the Dallas Leadership Foundation, local art fairs, DISD schools, and many trade shows. Heritage School of Classical Ballet is proud to be the home of millermuller ballet and, through the company, to be able to give the students a wide range of professional performance opportunities.
